GoFX — AI forex signal app

AI-powered forex trading signals and bot, delivered as an Android app.

Android GoFX

GOFX is a professional-grade Android mobile application built for a forex trading signals service. The app delivers real-time and historical trading signals to subscribers, covering buy/sell entry points, take profit and stop loss levels, and performance tracking in pips.
Beyond signals, GOFX integrates an AI-powered trading robot package system, a broker affiliate program, and live market news and analysis — all wrapped in a clean, modern UI built with Material Design.

The platform supports both free and premium user tiers, with a full subscription lifecycle including package selection, payment processing, validity tracking, and upgrade flows. Users can also link MT4/MT5 broker accounts through the app's affiliate partnership program.
Firebase powers real-time push notifications, Google Sign-In, and authentication, while a custom REST API backend serves all trading data from gofxai.com.

The challenge

The client needed a single mobile app to unify several complex, interrelated systems that had never been connected before:

1. Real-time signal delivery with multiple filtering dimensions (currency pair, date range, free vs. premium, today vs. historical) — requiring a data layer that could handle pagination, live updates, and offline-tolerant caching.

2. A tiered subscription model with two distinct product lines (standard packages and AI robot packages), each with its own purchase flow, payment method selection, validity period logic, and upgrade path.

3. A broker affiliate system where users register MT4/MT5 accounts under partner brokers — requiring broker selection UIs, affiliate link handling, and submission forms that fed into a backend affiliate tracking system.

4. Secure, multi-method authentication (email/password + Google Sign-In) with account recovery flows, profile management, and per-user premium status enforcement throughout the app.

5. Maintaining a smooth, fast user experience across all these features without the UI feeling cluttered, while targeting a broad Android device range (Android 7.0+).

The approach

The app was architected using MVVM with Android's Navigation Component, giving each feature area a dedicated ViewModel and Fragment while keeping a single coherent navigation graph. This made it straightforward to enforce premium gating — ViewModels check user status from a single source of truth and fragments react accordingly.

For signal delivery, Retrofit with custom OkHttp timeout configuration handles the REST API calls, while AsyncListDiffer-backed RecyclerViews provide smooth, flicker-free list updates when filters change. Signal history is segmented into Today, Weekly, and Monthly tabs with currency-based filtering, giving traders the analytical view they need.

The subscription system was built as two parallel but consistent flows — standard packages and AI packages — sharing the same payment method selection and transaction confirmation patterns. Package validity dates and premium status are stored on the user model and re-fetched on session start, so the app always reflects the real subscription state.

The broker affiliate module presents available partner brokers with their details, then guides the user through account submission (MT4/MT5 account number, broker selection) and tracks the referral via the backend API.

Firebase Authentication handles both email/password and Google Sign-In via the AndroidX Credentials API, with a full forgot/reset/change password flow. Firebase Cloud Messaging manages push notifications with device token registration on login and cleanup on logout. CircleImageView and Coil handle profile and news imagery efficiently with minimal memory pressure on lower-end devices.

The outcome

- Delivered a production-ready Android app (version 1.2.1) currently live for the GOFX trading signals service and its subscriber base.

- Unified six previously separate concerns — signals, subscriptions, AI packages, broker affiliates, news, and user management — into one cohesive mobile product with a consistent UX.

- Reduced subscriber friction by providing in-app package purchase and upgrade flows, eliminating the need for users to visit external web pages to manage their subscriptions.

- Enabled the client's affiliate broker program to scale by digitizing the account submission and partner tracking process directly within the app.

- Real-time push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging improved signal delivery speed, ensuring premium subscribers receive actionable trade alerts promptly.

- The MVVM + Navigation Component architecture made the codebase maintainable and extensible — new signal filters, package types, and broker partners have been added in subsequent releases with minimal structural changes.
